“I tend to prefer 'avant-grade,' atonal opera, but Kirke Mechem is one of the few tonal, even neo-romantic composers (certainly the best of them in my opinion) who can still write tonal music and have it sound fresh, original, even powerful. I've seen Tartuffe and The Rivals performed live and heard portions of John Brown. I can only imagine what wonders he will work with Pride and Prejudice."
