“ . . . a commendable breadth of vision. . . . Actually there is a hearkening back to nervous Brahmsian rhythms in the scherzo, but beautifully tossed off in the midst of modern harmony.”

— Musical America Magazine

“ . . . vital and alive, with wonderful and complicated rhythms and considerable melodic beauty. It was obviously very interesting to play, and the enthusiasm of the performers communicated through the performance.” (American Arts Trio)

— Kent County News, West Virginia

“There was rugged, neo-Brahmsian breadth in a piano trio . . . carried its strength grandly, with impressive success.”

— San Francisco Examiner on an all-Mechem concert
